Thomas Edward Hayles, 72, of Uriah, AL, passed away on June 21, 2026.    Mr. Hayles was born on August 9, 1953 to Floyd Edward and Bessie Lucille Lambert Hayles.

Ed was a mechanic on a tug boat.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding the dirt roads, reading, watching old westerns, watching football games, and teaching his grandchildren to tie nautical knots.  He was an avid storyteller and he especially loved his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mildred Ferrell and his brother, Lamar Hayles.

Ed is survived by his wife, Renie Jo Lassitter; his children, Lynn (Raleigh) Venn, of Cantonment, Leslie (Bubba) Vice of Semirah Springs, and Joe Edward (Laura) Hayles of Excel.   He is also survived by his sisters, Phyllis Ellerbee of Eliska, Eleanor Flowers of Huxford; and 6 grandchildren, Alex, Jackson, Cole, Georgia, Bobby, and Kayson.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Huxford Baptist Church Cemetery in Huxford, AL, with Bro. Jesse Bohannon officiating.   Interment will follow at Huxford Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jackson Reid, Cole "Dawg" Vice, Radyn Lambert, Aiden Lett, Cody Higdon, and David "Matt Dillon" Banks.   Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Parmer, Milford Gohagin, Bobby Allen, and Ricky Middleton.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family is graciously accepting donations to help cover funeral expenses.
