Roger Dale "The Candyman" Alverson, age 70, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 at his residence. He was born on November 23, 1951 to Elmer and Hazel Abbott Alverson.  He was a retired correctional officer with Fountain Correctional Facility.  He is preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of Cross Point Church in Atmore.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy J. Alverson; his sons: David Brian (Denise) Waller of Flomaton, AL and Daniel Lee Waller of Atmore, AL; his brothers: Mike (Sadie) Alverson and Danny (Rose) Alverson; his sister, Janise Alverson; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 3 PM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, AL with Pastor Guy Heath officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Houston Waller, Shawn McKinley, Kevin Slack, Jason Macks, Jerry Haskew, Adam Waller, Ray Hines and Mason Jones.

Visitation will be held  from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
