Obituary

Randolph "Randy" Martin, age 71, died peacefully at his home on August 28, 2024.  He was born in Atmore, Alabama, on July 21, 1953, to A.D. Martin and Willie Lee McGhee Martin. Randy lived in Atmore all his life but saw much of this world.  His career as a towboat Captain allowed him to travel many rivers during his 43 years of work. Besides work, Randy loved traveling with his wife to multiple sites in the United States and visited many foreign countries.

Randy's love for Alabama football was a passion he shared with many. He was a familiar face at home games and often traveled to other stadiums nationwide. His excitement was palpable when he spoke of the National Championship trip to Pasadena, California, where he watched the Crimson Tide triumph over the Texas Longhorns.

Randy was a member of the Poarch Band Creek Indians and enjoyed visiting the casino. Randy and his wife traveled across the country via private vehicle to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, in January of this year. Along the way, they visited many casinos.

Randy is survived by his wife, Carrie Martin; stepdaughters Crystal Sanchez and Courtney Jackson; siblings Patricia Tew, Ellis (Cindy) Martin, Tim Martin, Phillip (Donna) Martin, and Matthew (Denise) Martin; Grandchildren Alyssa, Logan, Bryden, Keleigh, Isabella, and Xylo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Randy in death are his parents, step-daughter Amber Holland, brothers Shirley McGhee, Alex" Jody" Martin, Robert "Bobby" Martin, and sister Olivette McGhee...
