Obituary

In Loving Memory of Malcolm Earle Mitchell

October 2, 1959 – October 29, 2026

Malcolm Earle Mitchell, age 67, of Atmore, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2026, in Atmore, Alabama. He was born on October 2, 1959, in Atmore, Alabama, to the late Charles and Vaden Mitchell.

Malcolm was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the hearts of many throughout his life. He was truly one of a kind, with a larger-than-life personality and a spirit that could light up any room. Always the life of the party, Malcolm had a special way of bringing laughter, joy, and unforgettable memories to those around him. To know Malcolm was to love him.

A simple man who found happiness in life's little things, Malcolm enjoyed tinkering, collecting antiques, and finding treasures in things others might overlook. He had a love for the old and unusual and could always find something to keep himself busy. He also loved playing the Florida Lotto, always hoping that the next ticket might just be his lucky one. It was one of the many little things that brought him excitement and joy. He lived life on his own terms, enjoyed every moment he could, and never needed much to be happy.

More than anything, Malcolm will be remembered for his lively personality, his love for his family and friends, and the laughter he brought into so many lives. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and stories that will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those who loved him.

Malcolm was preceded in death by his loving parents, Charles and Vaden Mitchell, and his brother, Marcus Mitchell.

He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Mervin Gibson (Marsha), Susie McCann (Gilbert Hadley), Riley Mitchell, and Michelle Ivey (Kookie Lassiter); a special niece, Stephanie Cook; along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Joe Gipson officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Solomon, Donnie Bailey, Douglas Mitchell, Gilbert Hadley, Ricky Cook, and Rave Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Alferd, Eric Zagorac, Leon Gibson, Billy Rex Gibson, Topanga Rolin, Kevin Gibson and Peyton Rolin.

Although Malcolm's time here on earth has come to an end, the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Forever loved, never forgotten.
