James Michael “Mike” Barnett, age 70, of Atmore, AL, passed away peacefully at his home on October 24, 2026. He was born on September 14, 1956, in Opelika, AL, to Kenneth and Nancy Jones Barnett.

Mike was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be remembered by those who knew and loved him. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including spending time at the beach, listening to music, and cheering on his favorite sports teams, Auburn and the Chicago Bears. His love for the Bears began many football seasons ago, thanks to his best friend, Jeff Shivers, who introduced him to the team and helped create a lasting passion for Chicago football. Mike graduated from Escambia Academy and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore, AL.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Barnett; his brother, Wayne Barnett; and his favorite uncle, James Barnett.

Mike is survived by his loving mother, Nancy Barnett; his sister, Kim (Ronald) Tatum; his nieces, Audra (Nick) Sutton, Olivia Tatum, and Carson Barnett; and his nephew, Evan Tatum. His family and friends will deeply miss him and cherish the memories they shared with him.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Mike Blair officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery.
