Gayle Odom Johnson, age 69, of Huxford, AL passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 in Fairhope, AL. She was born on December 18, 1952, to Jim and Jeanette Odom. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ben Johnson and her brother, Joe Odom.

She was a longtime employee of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, serving as editor for The Poarch Creek News.  She was a supporter and participant in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. She was also President of the VFW Auxiliary Post 7016 in Atmore AL and a member of the Poarch Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Holly (Robert) Carnley and their children Katelyn and Jacob, her son James Johnson and son Caiden. Siblings: Claude Odom, Eddie (Faye) Odom, Tommy (Voncile) Odom, Jackey (Shelia) Odom, Johnny (Sandra) Odom, Carolyn "Sussie" (Gary) Posey, Donald (Charlene) Odom, Arthur (Terrie) Odom, Isabell Odom, Jerry (Tangie) Odom, Joyce (Debbie) Fisher, Jenny Hutto, and Linda Odom (Tim), along with numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel in Atmore, AL with Bro. Josh Odom and Bro. Richard Daniels officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Cemetery in Pineview, AL.

Active pallbearers will be Chad Odom, Jeremy Odom, Matt Ray, Andrew Odom, Tyler Boatwright and JJ Odom.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Atmore Memorial VFW Post 7016.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel.
