Obituary

Gary Cooper Bouler entered his eternal rest on August 18, 2023.  He was born December 31, 1931, in Freemanville, Alabama.  He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Bouler, of the home and two sons, Gary W. Bouler (Sylvia) of Dothan, Alabama and Dean F. Bouler of New York, New York.

Mr. Bouler was preceded in death by his father, Walter L. Bouler; his mother, Bertha S. Bouler, and five siblings:  sisters, Infant Flora Golden Bouler, Willa B. Carroll, and Betty J. Turbiville; brothers, W.T. Bouler and Robert E. Bouler.  Since he was the youngest of the family and had a rocky start as a tiny premature baby, he was a favorite of his older siblings, and they loved him dearly his entire life as he did them.  He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews, too many to name.

Mr. Bouler graduated from high school in 1950 at Excel High School and later served in the United States Air Force for four years, which was during the Korean War, and as a Reservist for three years.  During his service in the Air Force and while stationed in England, he met and married his wife of 68 years, Shirley.  He made lasting friends in the Air Force and for many years attended the reunion of those Air Force friends each year.  He retired from Monsanto Corporation after 30 years.  Upon his retirement, Gary and Shirley were able to enjoy traveling, camping, visiting family and gardening.  He was baptized in the Church of Christ in 1959 and was a faithful member of the congregation and always in attendance until recent poor health.
