Florence Euline
Hardy
Feb 18, 1930 — May 15, 2025
Atmore
Florence Euline Hardy, 95, of Atmore, passed away on May 15, 2025 in Atmore, Alabama. She was born in Atmore on February 18, 1930 to the late Fletcher and Eula Higdon. While Florence was her given name, she was known to many as "Puddin".
As a young woman, she attended Montevallo College, which included riding the train from Atmore to Montevallo in the late 1940s. She worked as a switchboard operator at Southland Telephone Company in Atmore and later was a substitute teacher at McCullough School and Poarch School. She retired from Southland Systems and Touch 1 Long Distance where she was responsible for all the mailroom functions.
She greatly enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, sewing, country living and she was an avid couponer. She dearly loved her children and their children, family gatherings and her late husband Leslie. If you visited Puddin, you were sure to leave with a bag of goodie which might include soap, toothpaste, snacks, and best of all -- maybe a mess of fresh okra. While you didn't realize that you needed anything, she knew that these items might be helpful, and she would fill the bag to overflowing!
She was a long-time member of Judson Baptist Church of and of First Baptist Church of Atmore. She made a difference in the lives of many children through teaching Sunday School to 5-year-olds for over 25 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Leslie Hardy, her daughter Melanie Ann Hardy and her brothers William Higdon and Byron Higdon and her sister Martha Nicholas.
Survivors are two sons, Joe (Renee) Hardy and Billy (Vicki) Hardy of Atmore; daughter Bobbie Mack of Cantonment, Florida; daughter-in-love Shayne Johnson of Streetman, TX; six grandchildren: Ben (Jamie) Hardy, Emily (Clay) Branch, Robert (Lena) Hardy, Jill (Bo) Franklin, Kelly (Tony) Benauer, and Jessi (Joseph) McDonald; 11 great-grandchildren, Rylan Hardy, Brooks Branch, Caroline Branch, Livia Hardy, Lilian Hardy, Lyla Hardy, Lucy Hardy, Gerard Benauer, Isabella Benauer, Landon McDonald and Darby McDonald.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 2:30 PM at First Baptist Church of Atmore with Rev. Arnold Hendrix and Dr. Kevin Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
