Obituary

Eldon Laverne Eicher was born November 18, 1939 near Foley, Alabama to Dorcey and Iva Schroeder Eicher. He peacefully passed away August 19, 2021 in Pensacola, Florida. At the age of four his family moved to Livingston, California. Four years later they moved to Walnut Hill, Florida where he spent the rest of his life. As a young man he spent eleven summers in wheat harvest, starting in Oklahoma and traveling through western Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming and into Montana. These years were a highlight in his life.

In 1971 he was converted and baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite by Min. Wilbert Peters. In spite of many struggles, he remained faithful to the end.

On March 30, 1975 he was united in marriage to Rosie Koehn by Min. Samuel Jantzen at Ulysses, Kansas. They shared 39 years of life together, and their home was blessed with two sons.

After Mom passed away in October 2014, Dad began having serious health issues which drew him closer to God and us as a family for which we are thankful. We have an assurance that he is at rest. He spent most of his life interested in engines and cars. For thirty years he was a mechanic at the Ford garage in Atmore, plus having a shop at home. He also loved to garden, blessing many with good produce.

He leaves two sons, Leonard and Angela of Davisboro, Georgia, John and Kristen of Scotia, Nebraska. Four grandchildren Bryson, Liam, Jonas, and Kylie of Scotia, Nebraska. Parents in law Leon and Martha Koehn of Moundridge Kansas, one brother Ben Eicher of Davisville, Florida, two sisters in law Naomi and Vince Becker of Moundridge Kansas, Cindy Koehn of El Campo, Texas, two brothers in law Lee and Janice Koehn of Faunsdale Alabama, Melvin and Carol Koehn of Hugoton, Kansas. Special friends Galen and Rosalie Schmidt. Also seventeen nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Those preceding him in death were his wife Rosie, his parents, his mother in law Evelyn Koehn, two sisters Vada and Nadine, one brother Winston and two brothers in law Charlie Koehn and Bobby Byrd.
