Elbert E. "Buddy" Godwin, Jr., age 68, of Atmore, AL passed away on August 7, 2024 in Century, FL.  Buddy was born on August 17, 1955 in Chrysler, AL to Elbert E. and Mamie Sue Johnson Godwin, Sr.  He was a retired heavy equipment operator with Scott Paper Company and later worked with Huxford Pole and Timber Company.  Buddy loved to hunt and fish.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Maggie Lambert Godwin; his children, Roger Godwin of CO, Kenneth R. Stabler (Michelle Edwards) of Atmore, AL and Mandy (Rusty) Emmons of Atmore, AL; his siblings, Clyde (Ellen) Godwin of Brewton, AL, Elizabeth Godwin of Excel, AL and Patricia (Calvin) Felts of Ollie, AL; his grandchildren, Grayson Emmons (Brannon) Freeman, Garrett Emmons and Mayci Stabler; his great grandchild, Knox Freeman along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with High Priest Beth Linam officiating.  Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Goodway, AL.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
