Cheryl Jane Hughes, 63, of Atmore, AL, passed away on August 28, 2026.   She was born on February 27, 1963, to James Wesley and Eva Payne Hughes.

She worked as a cook at Dean's Grill.  She was a loving Mother, Aunt, friend, and Grandmother, who enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Shirley Cobb and Joyce Harrelson.

Cheryl is survived by her son, Jesse (Lindsey) Sanks of Frisco City, AL; two brothers, Wesley (Wanda) Hughes of Atmore, AL, and Danny (Deborah) Hughes of Rabun, AL; grandchildren, Jameson, Eminlee, and Leelan Sanks; a Special Friend, Kay Hunter; and a Special Niece, Shauna Harrelson.

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Serenity Gardens in Atmore, AL, with Bro. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.  Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
