Betty Jeanelle
Johnson
Jul 24, 1951 — Sep 6, 2026
In Loving Memory of Betty Jeanelle Johnson
Jeanelle Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 6, 2026, changing her address from this earthly home to her heavenly one.
Born in Atmore, Alabama, she was a woman who loved deeply, generously, and without measure. Her greatest joy was her family. She was immensely proud of her children and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with her whole heart. If you were one of her people, you knew it. And if you were lucky enough to know her, she probably made you feel like family.
She had a heart for taking care of others. She served as a Pink Lady at the hospital, and she spent time with elderly friends, offering companionship and kindness to those who needed it. Taking care of people was simply who she was. She gave of herself freely and never seemed to think twice about putting someone else first.
She was also a devoted sports fan. She loved Alabama football, but truthfully, she loved watching just about any sport, especially when one of her grandchildren was playing. Whether she was cheering from the stands or watching from home, she was always one of their biggest fans.
She loved her family fiercely. She celebrated their accomplishments, worried about them when they needed worrying over, cheered them on, and made sure they knew they were loved. Her love was unconditional, generous, and without measure.
She leaves behind a family who will miss her more than words can express, but who will carry her love, her kindness, and her memory with them always.
She spent her life taking care of her people. Now, it is our turn to take care of the memories she left behind.
Jeanelle was preceded in death by her parents, James Oliver and Helen Pauline Emmons; her grandparents Henry Burgess and Julia Dunn, and her brother Douglas Emmons.
She is survived by her children Linda (Ken) Lindler and Steven (Kara) Johnson, her grandchildren Hailee (William) Russell, James Duvall, Nicholas Smith, Ellie Lindler, Presley Johnson, and Rylan Johnson, great-grandchildren Clara Russell and Clark Russell, her sister Peggy (Ronnie) Lambert, and many, many dear and precious friends.
